Here’s some of what I’ve been up to currently…
My craving for this month has been for Thai food. We have this cute little Thai restaurant within walking distance that is always almost empty but has excellent food.
I also have been eating an embarrassing amount at Panera. But even in the summer you can’t beat soup in a bread bowl.
Our yearly big vacation, which is taking place in November this year. We just bought our planes tickets last week and are starting to plan the trip. We will be flying into San Francisco, spending a few days there, and then heading down the Pacific Coast highway to San Diego over the next week. It will be my first true road trip and my first time in California, so I’m excited to experience the beauty that the west coast has to offer. The current question: will it be too cold to rent a convertible for the trip down the coast?
This wonderful idea from a fellow blogger, Carolann of Finding Ithaka. She decided to give away two of her recent reads and will be shipping them to the winners. I’d love to do the same with one of mine that I read earlier this year: Only Daughter by Anna Snoekska. If you enjoy psychological thrillers, this might be a great read for you.
Here’s the book description:
In 2003, sixteen-year-old Rebecca Winter disappeared. She’d been enjoying her summer break: working at a fast-food restaurant, crushing on an older boy and shoplifting with her best friend. Mysteriously ominous things began to happen—a presence in her room at night, periods of blackouts, a feeling of being watched—though Bec remained oblivious of what was to come. Eleven years later she is replaced. A young woman, desperate after being arrested, claims to be the decade-missing Bec. Soon the impostor is living Bec’s life. Sleeping in her bed. Hugging her mother and father. Learning her best friends’ names. Playing with her little brothers. But Bec’s welcoming family and enthusiastic friends are not quite as they seem. As the impostor dodges the detective investigating her case, she begins to delve into the life of the real Bec Winter—and soon realizes that whoever took Bec is still at large, and that she is in imminent danger.
If you’d like a chance at having my copy of Only Daughter sent to you, let me know in a comment on this post.
After doing a giant closet clean-out in June, it was time to purchase some clothing that actually fit. I ended up finding most of the items I needed at Old Navy.
It’s also baby season among our friends, so I’m also spending a lot of time on baby registries trying to pick out the perfect cute, tiny gifts. How cute are these sandals? Lobsters!
Here are some of my favorite blog posts I’ve read this month:
“Some Honest Thoughts On Faith” from The Girl Who Loved to Write
“Give Up Control and Allow Yourself to Be Depressed” from Sarah Searches
“The Secret to Liking Your Body After Baby” from the New Wifestyle
And the post that I wrote this month that I’m really proud of:
July in Pictures
Mini Golf at Philly’s Summerfest
A visit to Franklin Institute for Science After Hours
Longwood Gardens with the entire family when my sister visited from Colorado. We’d like this porch.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in concert with the Philadelphia Orchestra
Check out the details on the first three of these locations in my post on my five favorite summer date nights in Philly.
What were you up to in July?
