Here is a glance into my life and what I’ve been up to currently in April.
Loving…
Spending time on me. It is so easy to get caught up in everything and forget to take care of yourself. Last week I got a pedicure because warmer weather is finally here and I wanted to treat myself.
Spending time cuddling with my husband. We will have been married 4 months on the 30th. Keep an eye out for the four marriage lessons I’ve learned so far next week.
Learning…
On April 16th I attended PHLBloggers’ Blog Connect Conference. I admit that these kind of events are a bit intimidating to me because my introvert self definitely comes out, making networking difficult. But I felt like a learned a bunch and got to meet some awesome fellow bloggers as well. There were presentations about organizing your blog, monetizing your blog, Instagram, storytelling, and more. It was held at the Saxbys headquarters and there were some great sponsors such as SnapKitchen, which offers healthy lunch and dinner opinions, and Maven Clinic, a new online way for women to get doctors’ appointments and medical advice. Although there were a couple of guys in attendance, the overall mood was definitely girl power, which I loved.
In the last few months I have been viewing a lot of webinars, but my favorite by far was a Pinterest one put on by Beth Anne Schwamberger and Crystal Paine last week. It was so good that it convinced me to purchase Beth Anne’s Brilliant Pin Promotion Course. I’m only a few lessons in, but I’m already learning a lot. I had considered a number of Pinterest courses over the past two months, but this one really felt like it was the best fit for me and my future goals.
Watching…
The show to binge-watch for April has been House. I’ve watched some of the later seasons before, but my husband had only seen a couple episodes. I’ve always been a fan of any show involving mystery and discovery, which is probably why I like crime procedurals and British mysteries so much. And with the giant chip on his shoulder and his quick wit, House is a character that is lovable even through his bad behavior.
I have also been catching up on The Mindy Project, Jane the Virgin, and Castle. I love shows that feature strong female characters. And it was hilarious that the Bechdel test came up on Jane the Virgin recently.
Cooking…
I tried two variations of chocolate covered rice krispy treats and they were a hit both times. The first time around I dyed the white chocolate light blue and pink for a baby shower. But quick hint, don’t try adding large amounts of food dye to white chocolate for darker colors. Tried that the second time and it was a disaster.
Going…
We went all out for the arts this month with two free musical presentations in the city of Philadelphia. The first was a pop-up concert of the Philadelphia Orchestra, in which they played selections from such pieces as Carmen and Finlandia. Next we went to a preview of the Academy of Vocal Arts spring Puccini operas. I had never experienced opera in person before and it was a great opportunity to be introduced to it and be blown away by the pipes on these young singers.
On April 1st we also went to the first Phillies game back in town after spring training in FL. My husband is a big fan and it was fun to take in the game, chow down on cheese steaks and crab fries, and watch the epic downpour that happened in the middle of the game.

So, what were you up to in APRIL?
Linking up with What I’m Into at Leigh Kramer.
🙂 Thanks so much for including me in your list, Sara!
PS- Rice Krispy Treats are one of my all time favorite desserts, though I’ve never tried it topped with chocolate – obviously I need to do this soon!
Now you have me craving Rice Krispies treats! I watched the most current season of The Mindy Project and although I don’t love it like everyone seems too, I appreciate the female issues she covers enough that I keep watching!
Cheese steaks and crab fries! Be still my grumbling tummy! Yum!
Love your list Sara, and so glad to have met you at the AVA Opera preview.Thank you for sharing your first opera experience with us!
Thanks so much for including me here! So nice to meet you at the conference! 🙂
It’s so important to remember to take time to take care of yourself! You can’t pour from an empty glass.
