Fall has finally arrived! Unfortunately most of the month didn’t feel much different then August. We had temperatures in the 80s, which did work well for the two weekends at the beach. We spent Labor Day weekend at Rehoboth Beach, DE, the beach that I grew up going to, and another at Ocean City, MD with the in-laws.
styling
Fall decor for the house. I love decorating our home for fall (and for Christmas). So pumpkins have been appearing all over the place in the last couple of weeks.
saving
Money for some large purchases in the next month, including new phones. We also planning several big projects around the house, such as a new couch and getting the carpets cleaned. I’m looking forward to having our living room look more pulled together.
searching
For new TV shows to watch. I’ve been watching Orange is the New Black, which has been an interesting look into the prison system and how many “criminals” are largely a product of their upbringing. My favorite parts have definitely been the flashbacks to each of the character’s earlier lives. I also finished up the latest season of Call the Midwife when it came to Netflix. What are your recommendations for great shows to binge watch on Netflix or Amazon?
picking
Apples, apples, and more apples. And finding delicious recipes to make out of them. I shared more about our apple picking date last week.
making
Fall favorites such as chili and homemade biscuits. Because we’ve been on a low-carb diet for the last year I haven’t had as much opportunity to bake as I have in the past. Baking is an activity that I find really relaxing and of course, there is the bonus of having something delicious to eat as the end product. I also made bread pudding and apple cobbler. Here’s the recipe for the apple cobbler.
What I’ve Been Reading This Month…
The Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan
As a book lover, there is something that always attracts me about a novel featuring a librarian or a book shop owner. There is something romantic about spending your entire day surrounded by books. This novel features a former librarian who explores her dream of opening her own bookstore by operating a bookshop on wheels around small towns in rural Scotland. It is a story of starting over, finding love, and pairing readers with exactly the book they need.
My favorite blog posts to read were:

What I’ve Been Loving This Month…
My ceramic pumpkin tealight holder which adds a classy festive touch to our coffee table. This is a similar one.
All the cute, cuddly things that babies wear in winter, especially since I’ve been doing laundry for a close friend whose due date is in October.
Learning brush lettering and creating some new projects with the technique. These are similar brush pens.
What were you up to in September?
Linking up with What I’m Into at Leigh Kramer.
I have two bushels of apples waiting for me to convert them into applesauce and apple butter. Don’t you just love the aroma of anything apple when it’s cooking?
Happy fall to you, and I think it’s wonderful that you were doing laundry for your friend who’s expecting!
I made applesauce earlier this week. The house smelled wonderful!
DOWNTON ABBEY is available on Amazon!!! If you haven’t watched it before do it, if you already have watch it again. I love it!
Yes, I love books about bookstores/librarians too – funny enough I just started that same one. And have a whole bunch of apples from our apple picking expedition ready to go 🙂
Thanks for linking up!
That’s so funny, we must have caught the same sale on Amazon.
I love books about bookstores and librarians – I need to read that one!
I also want to save more money. Granted, I also need to focus on buying Christmas gifts so I can hopefully save money in the long run there.

I hope you give it a try, it was a good read.
I’m a librarian and funny enough, I don’t like having a lot of books at home. I think it’s because I know that I can just get a book that I want from a librarian. Ha!!
I actually have purged my collection several times in the last few years. Now most of what I have is children’s books.
I’ve got pumpkins out in my apartment and I’ve got some kind of pumpkin candle constantly burning! I love fall. As far as shows go, I love Orange is the New Black but I haven’t seen the new season yet. I also loved Hart of Dixie and Grace & Frankie. Have you seen them?
I’ve seen Hart of Dixie, but not Grace and Frankie. I’ll have to check it out.
Apple picking is the best! I really enjoyed Bookshop on the Corner. Colgan’s novels are such quick, fun reads.
I’ll have to check out some of her other ones.
